Ki'il Tulum

Brand Identity and Illustration for an upscale Mexican restaurant.

BRAND

ILLUSTRATION

SCOPE

Full Brand Development: naming, strategy, identity, illustration, patterns, collaterals. Personal project.

The Brief

A self-set challenge with a personal root: after a trip through the Mayan Riviera left me feeling like a tourist in my own country, I set out to bottle that feeling. The concept: an upscale Mexican restaurant fusing the region's vibrant culture with a touch of luxury.

The Idea

Ki'il, Mayan for "delicious," joined with Tulum, the origin of the cuisine. From there, every element honors artisanal craft: a logo and patterns paying tribute to Mayan craftsmanship, rounded typography echoing abstract glyphs, and a palette drawn from cenotes, jungle, and the Yucatán's blush beaches.

The Craft

The Outcome

A complete brand from a single word: naming, identity, patterns, collateral, and campaign, with the main pattern, textures, and campaign illustrations all painted by hand.
